To strengthen the core activities, Fugro and ARCADIS have taken over some business parts from each other in Belgium, France and Germany.

ARCADIS has taken over the environmental consultancy activities of the operating company Fugro Belgium N.V.  These special activities match to a lesser degree with Fugro's range of services and fit in well with ARCADIS, market leader in Belgium in the field of environmental consultancy. The transfer includes seven employees. Annual turnover is EUR 0.6 million. Fugro will continue to concentrate on providing data collection services in the Belgian environmental market, through its branch office in Germany.

Fugro has taken over two ARCADIS-subsidiaries in France and Germany, providing geotechnical surveys and laboratory testing:
Sobesol, France, has offices in Paris, the French Alps and near Marseille. This ARCADIS subsidiary has 70 employees and an annual turnover of approximately EUR 7.5 million. Sobesol will join the network of seven existing branch offices of Fugro Geotechnique S.A., with its head office in Paris.

In Germany, Fugro took over the ARCADIS subsidiary LGU, Darmstadt, which employs twelve people and has an annual turnover of EUR 1 million. With this acquisition, Fugro will strengthen its position in the 'Rhein-Main'-area, as well as in the south of Germany. The company will be integrated in Fugro Consult GmbH in Berlin.

For ARCADIS the geotechnical activities of Sobesol and LGU fall outside the scope of their core activities consultancy and project management. Fugro will strengthen its market position in both countries with the geotechnical activities of Sobesol and LGU.
All the transactions were completed in the first half year of 2007. No further financial details were disclosed.
