In a partnership with EPS Solution Inc. in Korea, we designed a floating sector gate in the Yeongsan River Estuary. ARCADIS checked the preliminary design, which had many unique challenges. We translated these into alternative proposals and won the contract. The design consists of three thirty meter wide openings that can be closed with lifting gates and one sixty meter wide opening that can be closed with a floating sector gate. ARCADIS’s specialists in mechanical and water engineering from the Netherlands played an important role in the design proposals and detailed drawings and calculations. The gate is being constructed and should be ready by end 2012.
