Huawei Technologies Corporation Data Center and Command Center
Shenzhen, China

Huawei Technologies Corporation sought a corporate data center that would house both their clients’ and their own data operations in a world-class facility. In addition to seamless integration into Huawei’s corporate campus, the new building needed to incorporate domestic data facility engineering to ensure reliability. An aggressive design and construction schedule, sensitivity to regional and campus design vocabulary, and a trans-pacific team structure that could incorporate local engineering and architectural documentation were the project’s goals.

Basing the functionality of design on a careful blend of design experience and client wishes, the ARCADIS affiliate, RTKL, created a facility that is centered around two executive briefing rooms overlooking a two-story, 50-seat command center. The data center supports 40 watts/SF in 20,000 SF of space, with expansion at the same load density up to 40,000 SF. All engineering systems are designed to an N+1 level of redundancy with concurrent maintenance. Electrical systems utilize medium voltage switchgear for economy and reliability.
