Mitigation Programs Support
Florida
The state of Florida administers a number of programs to decrease vulnerabilities to hazards in infrastructure. The state distributes millions of dollars in grant funding to local jurisdictions in Florida for mitigating infrastructure, and monitors the work to ensure its completion through sound, generally accepted engineering practices.
The state hired Red Oak Consulting, an environmental engineering consulting firm and subsidiary of Malcolm Pirnie, to improve the mitigation programs by developing a plan that would fulfill requirements for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approval. FEMA accepted Red Oak Consulting’s plans, which allows Florida communities the opportunity to implement aggressive mitigation initiatives with the support of federal grant funding.
