THE CHALLENGE: The site of an old mill building was designated as a development site for a new housing project. But first some remnants of its industrial past had to be identified and removed.

THE APPROACH: ARCADIS managed the design and supervision of the works to demolish and regenerate the site of the old mill building.
This included the remediation of the soils on the site and the design of the foundations for the new housing development.
ARCADIS performed a site investigation initially. This included a desk study and review of existing information including further intrusive investigation, borehole and trial pitting.
Asbestos containing materials were visually identified within the demolition spoil heaps and an asbestos management programme implemented.

THE RESULT: A location that is ready for its new future, offering a home to new residents.
