THE CHALLENDE: One of our automotive clients' locations needed a serious overhaul. Railway tracks were no longer needed and needed to be removed, loading installations needed to be demolished in order to create high-quality storage areas.

THE APPROACH: ARCADIS was responsible for all required planning services beginning with the demolition works and the excavation of an abandoned industrial waste disposal site up to all constructional trades and their constructional supervision. One track connection needed to be preserved. By building a bypass around a building part, which needed to be preserved, and at the same time paving around the remaining track piece the traffic situation on location was improved. In order to build a heavy-load storage area with optimum use the terrain was adapted. The abandoned industrial waste disposal site had to be excavated and externally disposed of. This area was then filled with surplus filling material from the terrain adjustment. Columns and column foundations, which were exposed during the excavation works, were statically improved. A part of the no longer needed crane structure including its huge foundations was demolished.

THE RESULT: An industrial site ready for modern production activities.
