Emission Dispersion Analysis, USA

THE CHALLENGE: Industry's air quality programs are often challenged by available resources, budget constraints and daunting compliance issues.
An electronic materials producer was facing these challenges for a production site in the U.S., where the company had to manage their emissions of titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4).

THE APPROACH: ARCADIS was contracted to evaluate and conduct a risk analysis, followed by a dispersion analysis using several air dispersion models to predict off-site impacts of TiCl4. ARCADIS evaluated alternative release scenarios and the potential of designing and installing active mitigation devices to reduce the potential exposure to surrounding public and environmental receptors.

THE RESULT: With the help of a dispersion model, ARCADIS demonstrated that a release of TiCl4 would not result in off-site consequences. Subsequently, the facility was assigned a lower program status classification.
