Environmental Permitting at Northern Manuport, Belgium

THE CHALLENGE: At its terminals in Antwerp, Northern Manuport provides the transshipment of fertilizers, industrial minerals and chemicals. The company needed a new environmental permit due to changes in environmental legislation. Simultaneously, the company implemented cleansing units and environmentally friendly techniques in its operations. Many tasks to handle simultaneously.
THE APPROACH: ARCADIS initiated step-by-step improvement actions. First, stock management was optimized, resulting in a continuous complete inventory of the locations, quantities and hazardous risks of stored products. Second, the risks associated with salt impacts were assessed, and ARCADIS prepared the environmental permit application for submission.
THE RESULT: Well established contacts with the regulatory bodies in conjunction with expertise in the correct assessment of environmental and safety risks ensured that a new environmental permit was granted.
