THE CHALLENGE: Within the framework of a takeover, a holding company wanted to audit a manufacturer of concrete paving blocks that delivers to branches in Flanders and the Walloon region of Belgium.

THE APPROACH: Within the due diligence procedure, ARCADIS Gedas carried out an environmental and a safety audit. By means of a thorough analysis of available documents, interviews with various responsible persons and detailed visits to the sites, the environmental and safety aspects were registered in a first phase. Subsequently, a thorough screening of the known soil contaminations was carried out. ARCADIS Gedas prepared a detailed list of challenges and potential hazards, investigated how these challenges would be remedied and calculated the cost price of such measures.

THE RESULT: Due to the pronounced expertise and thorough communication of its auditors, ARCADIS Gedas was able to provide a clear estimation of the liabilities at the various sites within a tight time schedule. These assessments were used by the client during its negotiations for the takeover of the company.
