Sale above Expectations after Due Diligence in 19 Countries

THE CHALLENGE: The preparation of the sale of a plastic manufacturing division required ASTM Phase I reports for each property. Environmental due diligence for the deal, worth US$11.6B, needed to be completed within eight weeks. The 46 locations of the division are spread out over 19 countries on different continents and include 13 major chemical plants.

THE APPROACH: ARCADIS fielded unique, in-country teams to each site, totaling 50 ARCADIS employees. ARCADIS personnel completed the review of more than 6,000 documents in native languages and generated ASTM-style Phase I reports that were uploaded into an on-line data room. ARCADIS also supported development of the document list and disclosure documents for the purchase/sale agreement and provided guidance on permit transfer requirements in support of the asset or stock sale of the particular asset.

THE RESULT: The asset was sold several billion dollars higher than anticipated.
