The main objective of the Hanzeline, a new High Speed Railway line between Lelystad and Zwolle, is the improvement of the connection between the north and northeast part of the Netherlands and the main urban (and economical important) area in the western part of the country. This will improve the economical development of the north and northeast. According to prognoses, about 32,000 people will be using the Hanzeline. At the same time the Hanzeline will be used for high speed trains and about 34 freight trains.
ARCADIS has provided the main part of the consultancy and plan development.
Design aspect of the project
ARCADIS has made plan designs as well as the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Beside these designs, several more detailed designs were made of key spots along the line, like:

The crossing of the "Randmeren" lakes (bridge and tunnel alternative)

Stations at Dronten and Zwolle

Crossing of the freeways A6, N50 and A28.
To support the findings in the EIA several additional studies were undertaken. Among those were the following studies:

The Hanzeline will have an impact on nature, landscap and the living area. A good judgement of the alternatives necessitates for a good insight in the environmental effects of the alternatives. The EIA provides an integral view of the effects of:
