For the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (Urban train company of São Paulo, CPTM) ARCADIS had the responsibility for the project management. This involved the civil works of the 1st and 2nd phase for the part of Santo Amaro and Largo Treze, as part of the Capão Redondo to Largo Treze branch (line 5) of the metro network.
This section was the first city line to be built to a 1435 mm gauge. Construction started in 1998 and the opening took place in 2002. The Santo Amaro station was designed as an integrated part of the cable stayed bridge crossing the river Pinheiros.
