ARCADIS was contracted to develop a comprehensive stormwater management plan for the entire county. Implementation of the plan will reduce flooding problems, identify flood-prone areas, facilitate the development process, enable county personnel to respond quickly to problems, improve water quality, and help preserve wetland areas. Over 200 miles of streams have been identified for study. In addition, the plan will address storm sewer systems in developed areas.During the development of the plan, we will identify and analyze existing and potential flooding and water quality problems, develop and evaluate remedial measures, formulate a remediation plan for each watershed studied, and establish the priority system for implementing the individual watershed plans. ARCADIS will also conduct a drainage structure inventory and create a drainage structure database containing photographs and other pertinent information which will be linked to the county's geographical information system (GIS).
The watershed plan will include recommendations for the improvement of all flooding issues throughout the county. These alternatives will be ranked and prioritized by costs and severity of the problems. Our report will list the recommended priority to conduct and install the improvements. The Board of Commissioners will have the final approval on the actual implementation schedule, including the allocation of costs for the improvement. During the planning and implementation plan of the recommended improvements, stakeholder involvement is actively solicited and incorporated in the implementation.
