ARCADIS has capabilities in the fields of; throughput forecasts, spatial planning, site selection and masterplanning, sanitation and wast manangement, environmental impact assesments, noise abatement, soil conservation, landscaping, terminal buildings, runways, taxiways and aprons, road and rail access, utilities and systems, energy management, viability studies, financial engineering re-structuring and privatisation. Typical Project Experience
· North Sea Island
Pre-feasibility and spatial planning studies for a new nation airport in the Netherlands. Arcadis has been involved in a number of studies, looking into various sites and finally designed the logistic system and civil aspects for an artificial island in the Norhtsea.
· Munich Airport Centre
Structural design and supervision of construction of terminal buildings and roof consisting of load bearing structure with guyed ropes and roof casting of glass and textile.
· Berlin Brandenburg International Airport
Extensive environmental impact study of the effects of a new international airport replacing the cities 3 existing airports, i.e. Tegel, Tempelhof and Schönefeld.
· Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, Santiago de Chile
Basic planning and tenderdesign for expanding the existing international terminal to 90.000 sqm, together with a 60m high control tower, 55,000 sqm cargo facilities, 50,000 sqm traffic pavement and 120,000 spm apron and taxiways
· Barajas Airport, Madrid, Spain
Engineering services for enlargement of the capacity of the existing airport by building a new (third) runway and terminals.
· Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
- Noise abatement in the vicinity of Schiphol, called GIS II Project enhancing the isolation of 14000 houses during 5 years
- Romoval of decontamination of the soil at the former AFS site where a oil storage tankfarm had to be relocated deu to expansion of the airport
- Landscaping of the open space for surrounding grounds along the new 5th runway
- Inventory of people and buildings within safety contours
- Structural design new J-pier
- Set up and maintenance of a GIS management system for roads and bridges
